Lee, associate professor of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, writes in Forbes (11/29, 4.58M) about the Centers Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation that anyone “who has drunk raw milk over the past 6 months to see a doctor as soon as possible.” Lee describes the recent news of a Brucella RB51 infection from a woman who drank raw milk from Udder Milk and the risks of Brucella. Lee clears up misconceptions about pasteurized milk and concludes, “The risks of drinking raw milk far outweigh whatever benefits it may possibly provide.”

State officials seized raw camel milk in August and FDA has initiated its own enforcement process. Distribution of raw milk products across state lines has been illegal since 1987. Some of these products are also considered unapproved new drugs due to bizarre health claims on the labelling.
