As part of National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW), the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals is encouraging parents to make sure their children’s immunizations are up to date. National Infant Immunization Week, which is April 20-27, 2013, is an annual nationwide observance to highlight the importance of protecting infants, birth to 24 months of age, from 14 vaccine-preventable diseases and to celebrate the achievements of immunization programs in promoting healthy communities throughout the United States.
