SR 122 of the 2011 Regular Session required DHH, the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, and the Louisiana State Board of Pharmacy to develop a comprehensive report on immunization service delivery in the state and to submit a report to the House and Senate health and welfare committees of their findings.

HCR 50 of the 2011 Regular Session directed the secretaries of the Department of Health and Hospitals and the Department of Children and Family Services to study the consolidation of the two departments into one department and to present a report on the findings and conclusions of such study to the legislature.

HR 110 of the 2011 Regular Session requests that DHH study rules relative to the preparation and sale of cane syrup and submit a report to the House Health and Welfare committee which contains recommendations relative to the ability of traditional cane syrup makers to prepare, package, and sell cane syrup produced in open facilities, cast iron kettles, or evaporators.

HCR 19 of the 2011 Regular Session requested that DHH minimize the use of complete social security numbers of its clients and report an assessment of client data security to the House and Senate health and welfare committees.

SCR 77 of the 2009 Regular Session requested that DHH and the Department of Education (LDOE) collaborate to examine the adequacy of current practices for ensuring the preventative health and well-being of adolescents in Louisiana and submit a report to the legislature of its findings.

SCR 77 of the 2010 Regular Session directed DHH to investigate, study, and develop a plan to modernize and improve the state developmental disability centers. The resolution asked for an assessment of the current operation and maintenance of the existing centers and an assessment of the feasibility of repairing or replacing those existing facilities. The resolution required DHH to submit a written report of its findings to the House and Senate committees on health and welfare.

Act 384 of the 2009 Regular Session merged the Offices of Addictive Disorders and Mental Health within DHH to form the Office of Behavioral Health (OBH), effective July 1, 2010. Act 384 required that a report be submitted to the House and Senate committees on health and welfare that details the progress of the implementation of OBH.

HCR 187 of the 2009 Regular Session requested that DHH create a pilot program to screen newborns for Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disorder (SCID). The resolution further requested that DHH submit a report to the House and Senate committees on health and welfare that recommends whether SCID testing warrants permanent inclusion in the state’s newborn screening program. SCID is a primary immunodeficiency disorder that causes premature death, usually in the first few months of life.
