HR 1 of the 2009 Regular Session requested that DHH study the feasibility of requiring the placement of automated external defibrillators in schools and required that a written report of findings and recommendations be submitted to the House Committee on Health and Welfare.

HB 551 of the 2009 Regular Session created the Seafood Safety Task Force within DHH. The bill required the task force to obtain the method in which imported seafood is inspected in Louisiana, the frequency of inspections of imported seafood, the substances for which imported seafood are currently being tested, and the results of sampling analysis of potentially harmful substances in imported seafood. The bill further required the task force to compile the results of these findings and develop seafood and safety recommendations to be reported to the House and Senate Health and Welfare Committees and the House and Senate Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development Committees.

SB 77 of the 2002 First Extraordinary Session required DHH to develop a develop and implement a strategic plan for the purposes of maintaining, enhancing, and expanding services currently offered by rural health care providers, including rural hospitals, and to submit an annual report to the legislature detailing the progress in implementing the strategic plan.

HCR 184 of the 2009 Regular Session requested that DHH and the Department of Education study jointly the feasibility of utilizing Medicaid funds to fund more school nurse positions and to submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the House and Senate health and welfare committees and education committees.

HCR 190 of the 2009 Regular Session directed DHH to conduct an evaluation of adult day health care reimbursement and services in Louisiana and convene an adult day health care advisory council to assist DHH with this charge. The resolution required the council to submit its findings to the House and Senate health and welfare committees.

Act 384 of the 2009 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature created the Implementation Advisory Committee and provided that it shall recommend to the Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) a specific plan for implementation of the consolidated administrative functions of the Office of Behavioral Health (OBH).
