Act 256 of the 2009 Regular Session called for the expansion of a current health- related fitness assessment program (Fitnessgram), as well as plan for developing interventions and making recommendations regarding program implementation, best practices and future directions. The bill required the Picard Center, in collaboration with DHH, the Department of Education, the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, and the Louisiana Council on Obesity Prevention and Management to work together and submit an annual report to the governor, legislature, and BESE.
