The Louisiana Department of Health will be hosting several events about Healthy Louisiana, the state's expanded Medicaid program, in the upcoming weeks in the Greater New Orleans area.

Staff will be on-hand at the enrollment events to assist individuals in completing the application for healthcare coverage.

Under the expansion, adults ages 19-64 years old who meet certain criteria will be eligible to enroll in Medicaid. The criteria include:

  • Has a household income less than 138% of the federal poverty level (below $16,395 per year for an individual or $33,534 per year for a family of four)
  • Doesn't already qualify for Medicaid or Medicare
  • Meets citizenship requirements

Those enrolled in the Greater New Orleans Community Health Connection Program (GNOCHC) or Take Charge Plus who meet the eligibility requirements do not need to apply for Medicaid expansion coverage, but will be automatically enrolled.
