Health Care Providers
The state, through the Department of Health, is more effectively managing Medicaid enrollees' health care through Healthy Louisiana.
Louisiana's Medicaid providers deliver a valuable service to the state's Medicaid recipients, and their continued input and participation are critical as the State works to create a care delivery system that leads to better health outcomes and more effectively coordinates services and treatment.
The program includes five managed care organizations (MCO) to improve recipient health outcomes, and add benefits for recipients. The Health Plans are:
- Aetna Better Health of Louisiana
- AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana, Inc.
- Healthy Blue
- Louisiana Healthcare Connections
- UnitedHealthcare Community Plan
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) is seeking provider feedback as we develop an implementation plan to ensure compliance with a recent Agreement between LDH and the United States Department of Justice (DOJ).
As the result of a 2014 investigation, the DOJ alleged that Louisiana unnecessarily relies on nursing facilities to serve people with serious mental illness instead of serving them in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).LDH encourages providers to take our survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/S5ZY8W5) by Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018 to provide your feedback to LDH as they develop this implementation plan. Thank you.
