Baton Rouge Primary care Collaborative will have
nutrition specialist, Ellen "The Principal" McKnight
of Maxine Firm and Fitness, Chase Flemming of Chasing and Acheiving as our guests.
They will be educating our community with the implementation of healthy lifestyles, personal nutrition, and how to maintain a healthy heart.

Minority Health Month Activities for
Arbor Family Health 

Poster board presentations on Health Disparities among Minorities to be displayed in all health clinics. Topics will include: Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Childhood Obesity, and Smoking.

April 19 – 21 Cardio Dance Workout.  The first 80 people to sign up will participate in a 1 hour cardiac dance class.

April 27 – Diabetes and Hypertension Awareness presentation on healthy eating habits with sample snacks provided.


 
     
     
  • Food Bank – River Ridge location – during the month –  healthy food bags will be available to patients that are a specific criteria in hypertension and diabetes, the bags will contain nutrients and literature for better eating habits. 
 

SWLA Center for Health Services Holds Meeting on New Medicare Cards

This month, Medicare will be sending out the new Medicare cards.

In order to help local seniors understand the changes, SWLA Center for Health Services held an informational Medicare meeting to answer any questions. 

 

The new Medicare cards will be mailed out from April 2018 through April 2019. more
