Louisiana Medicaid health plan contract update
On January 17, the Louisiana Office of State Procurement rescinded Medicaid’s awards for the next phase of health plan contracts. The administration is currently examining the decision to determine the appropriate next steps.
What does this mean for members?
There is no impact on Medicaid members due to emergency contracts being in place. Those contracts are with the five existing health plans - Aetna Better Health of Louisiana, Amerihealth Caritas Louisiana, Healthy Blue, Louisiana Healthcare Connections and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan.
There is no change to the member’s Medicaid coverage or their Medicaid eligibility. Members should continue going to their current doctors and keep any appointments or procedures they have scheduled.
If members have questions about coverage or doctors, they should call their health plans’ member services hotline. Click here for health plan hotline numbers.
When is Healthy Louisiana Open Enrollment?
Open enrollment has been delayed. New dates have not yet been set.
When the enrollment period is set, members will receive a letter in the mail. The letter will tell them how to change plans, if they wish to do so, and the deadline to make that change. Members should keep their mailing addresses updated so they don’t miss this important letter. The easiest way to do this is by logging in to the Medicaid Self Service Portal at MyMedicaid.la.gov.
