Louisiana Adolescent School Health Initiative Coordinating Council

The Adolescent School Health Initiative Coordinating Council was legislatively mandated in 1991 through RS 40:31.3. This legislation requires the Office of Public Health to establish an adolescent school health initiative to facilitate and encourage the development of comprehensive health centers in public middle and secondary schools, which provide preventive health services, counseling, acute health services, and appropriate referral for acute health services.

The Adolescent School Health Initiative Coordinating Council serves students in public, middle, and secondary schools by advising the Adolescent School Health Program’s implementation of school-based health centers, shaping public policy, and ensuring the effective implementation of laws and regulations.
