EMS Certification Commission

The Louisiana Emergency Medical Services Certification Commission (EMSCC) is a legally created administrative commission acting within the governmental structure of the state and possessing legal power.

EMS Credentialing

The Bureau of EMS licenses individuals who meet the license requirements as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) or as a Paramedic.

EMS Education

The State of Louisiana requires that Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel adhere to the strictest standards of quality as it relates to education, training, testing, and service. To insure these efforts, Louisiana requires certification by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) as a prerequisite for licensure at every license level, except for the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).

EMS Exams

The Bureau of EMS is responsible for the administration of the NREMT Psychomotor Exam.

EMS for Children

Louisiana’s Emergency Medical Services (EMSC) program was established in 1992, and operates within the Bureau of Family Health.

EMS Task Force

The EMS Taskforce serves as advisory body for the Louisiana Bureau of EMS. Taskforce members are appointed by representative bodies/agencies comprising the realm of EMS services.
