Department of Health and Hospitals Deputy Secretary Raymond Jetson will travel to each Health Care Reform Consortium meeting in early January to present Louisiana’s Draft Plan for Immediate Action, a long-term care reform plan developed through the Governor’s Health Care Reform Panel. Jetson will give consortia members the same presentation he gave at the Panel’s Dec. 16 meeting and will offer community members and stakeholders time to provide input.

The plan describes ways Louisiana can move toward a system that offers more home-and-community-based-options for each recipient’s long-term care needs. Suggested changes include improving the administrative and service delivery components of long-term care, making it easier for recipients to navigate the system; identifying and outreaching to care facilities that consistently operate below capacity; and conducting a comprehensive needs-assessment to determine why most people require long-term care in state.
