The Louisiana Department of Health (DHH) will be offering free or low-cost back to school immunizations for qualifying individuals beginning July 21 at parish health units across Region 5.
"Parents need to know that vaccinations are not only safe, but they're also one of the most successful tools we've ever used to help kids stay healthy," said LDH Immunization Medical Director Dr. Frank Welch. "School vaccination laws have helped significantly reduce the occurrence of vaccine-preventable diseases, including measles, influenza, mumps, whooping cough and pneumonia."
Children who are uninsured, are American Indian or Alaskan native, or who have insurance that does not cover vaccinations are eligible to receive vaccinations at parish health units. Parents of children who have insurance should contact their primary care provider for vaccination services.
See the schedule below for vaccination clinic dates. To make an appointment or find out if you qualify, call the clinic nearest you.
