The Voice of NASOMH: Solutions for Navigating the COVID-19 Storm
“HOW TO LEVERAGE DATA CAPACITY AS A SOLUTION WHEN YOU DON’T HAVE A LOT”
NASOMH invites you to participate in a two-part webinar series to discuss how state offices of minority health/health equity use data and information to address the COVID-19 pandemic. This is not just another webinar focusing on the data gaps revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead this webinar will highlight how to overcome data gaps. This includes using available (free) analytical tools and social indicators to inform COVID-19 response and recovery strategies with a health equity lens.
This webinar is for anyone needing to make data-driven decisions, especially if your current organization lacks data capacity. You do not have to be a statistician or epidemiologist to apply these strategies. The series will also describe how NASOMH members used academic partnerships and learned from each other to apply data solutions for COVID-19 response and recovery strategies. Lastly this series will discuss the importance of amplifying the voices of offices of minority health to advance health equity in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Learning objectives for Part I
1. Learn what data sets are currently available that can help inform COVID-19 strategies for populations made vulnerable through challenging SDOH.
2. Demonstrate how to identify high risk populations for COVID-19 underlying conditions at the census tract level.
3. Demonstrate how different states can work together to solve common public health challenges.
