Engineering Services
Engineering is a crucial element in the protection of the public's health. Our engineering staff functions in program development, technical direction, and critical decision making for many diverse public protection issues around Louisiana.
The scope of Engineering Services reaches out impacting individuals, businesses, institutions, and communities for the protection of public health. Major responsibilities include administration of the Safe Drinking Water Program, Community Sewage Program, Operator Certification Program and State Public Pool regulations. Examples of activities include plan reviews and permits for new construction or modification of drinking water facilities, wastewater facilities, institutions, state-owned facilities, and public pools as well as inspection, sampling, and supervision of public water supplies.

Water and Wastewater
- Engineering Services Permit Application
- Effective February 1, 2019, projects submitted to LDH for a permit must be entered in the LDH Engineering Services Plans Review Portal (online application) by the Project Engineer (or his/her designee). The project review will not start until the project has been entered in the Plans Review Portal
- To submit projects, the project engineer must create an account profile
- Project Engineers can view and receive updates regarding the progress of their submitted projects via the Plans Review Portal
- To acknowledge completion of a permitted project after construction, make sure to submit a Certification of Contruction Form to the regional engineering office.

Plumbing/Public Buildings/Public Pools
- Louisiana State Plumbing Code - In accordance with Act 836 of 2014, the Louisiana State Plumbing Code [Part XIV (Plumbing) of Title 51 (State Sanitary Code) of the Louisiana Administrative Code (LAC)] will be null, void, and unenforceable on and after January 1, 2016. As required, the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council (LSUCCC) will promulgate State plumbing regulations with an effective date of January 1, 2016.
