School Immunization Report - Kindergarten, 2019-2020

Each fall, all schools in Louisiana with kindergarten, 6th grade, and 11th-grade students are required by state law to enter information on their students’ immunization records into the school module of the Louisiana Immunization Network (LINKS). The Office of Public Health Immunization Program receives the aggregate data and submits summary reports to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with all other states.

The map feature below includes the following information on all schools that reported kindergarten enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year:

  1. Percentage of students at each school that have complete immunization records (complete immunization record meaning they have all of the required immunizations needed in order to attend school in Louisiana – see school entry requirements here)
  2. Percentage of students at each school that have an immunization exemption on file (parents/guardians can claim either a medical or non-medical exemption in Louisiana and the data in the map feature displays a school’s combined exemption rate)

With respect for school officials and their current challenges in educating our children, annual outreach to schools and Superintendents to address instances of non-reporting and incomplete/missing immunization records, has been paused until September. The COVID-19 pandemic is a reminder of the critical importance of disease prevention actions, including vaccination. Remaining up to date with vaccinations is important whether families choose in-person, online, or hybrid learning for their students.
