The New Way Center Inc., operates a licensed Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Prevention Program at The First Baptist Church, 507 Swayze Street, Monroe, LA. The area served is a low rent area situated in the Booker T. Washington-Renwick Street area. The target Population is 2,000 young people between the ages of 10 and 18 who live in the area. The operating hours are from 2:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. daily, open on all school breaks. (May be closed on some state and federal holidays).
The New Way Center, Inc. is a community based drop-in referral center which offers counseling, educational services and a study program for young people 10-18 years old.
Young people in the center are provided with a wide range of activities which includes tutoring, computer skills, Study assistance Drug information, drug prevention, creative arts, educational games. They are also provided with direct and constant supervision.
