Performance Improvement Projects

Louisiana Medicaid works on projects to make health care better.  It is our goal to help patients get the care they need, lower costs, and improve health results.

Why We Focus on Improving Performance

  • Better Care: The main aim is to provide higher quality health care.  This means finding ways to improve things like check-ups, managing long-term health issues, and making sure people get care when they need it.
  • Saving Money: Making healthcare better can help save money by preventing unnecessary hospital visits and health problems.
  • Focus on Patients: These projects aim to consider what patients need and want, leading to better care that meets their preferences.

How Projects are Done:

  • Finding Problems: We look at data to see where care can be improved, like high rates of patients ruturning to the hospital, or low rates of important screenings.
  • Setting Goals: We create clear goals and plans to tackle the issues they find
  • Tracking Progress: We collect and analyze data ot see if changes are making a difference.
  • Working Together: We work with the Medicaid health plans and providers to make the changes, and enhance the quality of care.
