Safe Drinking Water Program

The Safe Drinking Water Program provides comprehensive drinking water protection to the citizens and visitors of Louisiana supervising over 1,300 public water systems for compliance with state and federal drinking water regulations.

School Lead Testing Program

The Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act or “WIIN Act” of 2016 authorizes the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to award grants to states and tribes to assist local and tribal educational agencies in voluntary testing for lead contamination in drinking water at schools and child care programs.

St. Joseph Water

Gov. John Bel Edwards issued a Public Health Emergency for the Town of St. Joseph in North Louisiana. Residents are advised to use an alternative source for drinking water. On Dec. 15, 2016 test results conducted by the Office of Public Health showed elevated levels of lead in two samples – a private residence and the Town Hall. Also, there were two other sites with elevated levels of copper – both were private residences.

Task Force on Mold in Louisiana

The task force, comprised of a 15-member panel of health, housing, academia and regulatory designees from state agencies and universities across Louisiana, formed in response to House Bill 802 / Act Number 258 of the 2014 regular legislative session.
