"On behalf of our statewide network of providers of services to persons with disabilities and the thousands of people we serve, we are gravely concerned about the cuts to our services that will occur if the proposals currently contained in HB-1 are enacted. Additional reductions of 7.5% on top of reductions already enacted over the past three years will drive many of our providers out of business leaving substantial numbers of the very vulnerable folks we serve without the assistance they rely on to continue to reside in their homes and participate in their communities. Ironically, if these proposals are not reversed, they will actually cost Louisiana taxpayers more money because the folks we serve may have to turn to more expensive care in state institutions," said Chris Pilley, Executive Director of Community and Residential Services Association (CARSA).
