Save the Date! Children's Mental Health Awareness Summit and Louisiana Behavioral Health Partnership Presentation
Parents, family members, social workers, licensed professional counselors, licensed addiction counselors, other behavioral health care providers and interested others are invited to participate in the fourth annual Children's Mental Health Awareness Summit Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the auditorium at Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dr. Neil W. Boris, a Professor at Tulane University School of Medicine will begin the day with an informational lecture focusing on this year's theme, "Overcoming Trauma, Building Resilience in Children." Then, Secretary Bruce D. Greenstein will kick off the afternoon with a firsthand look at the Department's innovative new approach to providing behavioral health care services to Louisiana children and adults - the Louisiana Behavioral Health Partnership (LBHP). Following Secretary Greenstein's presentation, Jody Levison-Johnson, the Director of the Coordinated System of Care (CSoC), will provide a national perspective on CSoC before launching into a panel discussion. The panel will be composed of representatives from all four child-serving agencies - Department of Child and Family Services, Department of Education, Department of Health and Hospitals and the Office of Juvenile Justice - and will explain the impact of the LBHP and the role each agency will play in implementation and service delivery. Participants will have the opportunity to share thoughts, concerns and questions regarding LBHP's effect on providers, families, state partners and other stakeholders.
The conference is free and lunch will be provided to all registered attendees. For more information or to register, contact Shirley Marrero at shirley.marrero2@la.gov or (225) 342-2579.
