***MEDIA ADVISORY*** DHH To Hold News Conference Wednesday Announcing HIV Screenings at the Bayou Classic
BATON ROUGE - Wednesday, at a news conference outside the Louisiana Superdome, the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) will provide details about no-cost HIV testing that will be available for Bayou Classic fans at this weekend's game. DHH, OraSure Technologies, Inc., and the Kaiser Family Foundation's "Greater Than AIDS" movement are providing the screenings to fans in an effort to arm Louisiana's African-American community with valuable knowledge about HIV. African-Americans make up 32 percent of Louisiana's population, yet they represented 75 percent of new HIV diagnoses in the state in 2009.
