State Health Officials Urge Louisianians to "Fight the Bite" in the Wake of Rising West Nile Virus Infections

BATON ROUGE -- Louisiana is experiencing more West Nile virus infections than have occurred in the past few years, and all state residents should take appropriate precautions to avoid increased risk of getting this disease.

Department of Health and Hospitals Office of Public Health Assistant Secretary J.T. Lane and State Health Officer Dr. Jimmy Guidry will hold a news conference at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at DHH Headquarters, the Bienville Building, to talk about this public health threat and steps residents should take to avoid mosquito bites, which cause West Nile virus.
