In Case You Missed It:  Louisiana Receives Final Approval for Partnership with Our Lady of the Lake

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Governor Bobby Jindal announced today that Louisiana received final federal approval for the state's public-private partnership with Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, which took over operations of the former Earl K. Long Medical Center earlier this year.

Louisiana is in the midst of transforming how it provides health care to those residents who rely on safety-net hospitals for medical treatment, moving away from LSU-run hospitals in favor of cost-effective partnerships with facilities across the state. Our Lady of the Lake was the first private-public partnership to launch.

The partnership became final when the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Louisiana's remaining two Medicaid State Plan amendments for compensation related to outpatient care on Monday. 

Governor Bobby Jindal said, "This is truly a historic day for our partnerships in Louisiana. In the months since it launched, OLOL has served more than 25,000 patients through this partnership, streamlined and improved how prescriptions are filled and surgeries scheduled and become the training ground for the medical residents who will be the next generation of Louisiana doctors."
