In Case You Missed It: Thursday, August 15, 2013 - Moss Memorial Expands Services
Medical services are expanding at the W.O. Moss Memorial Health Clinic with the addition of a breast health clinic and cardiology clinic. The expansion comes just weeks after Lake Charles Memorial Health System acquired the Moss campus in a public-private cooperative endeavor agreement with the Louisiana State University Health System.
"This is an exciting time for the patients of the Moss Memorial campus," says Bernita Loyd Brown, Administrator of the W.O. Moss Memorial Health Clinic. "We are adding services for our patients that are now available locally. This adds a level of convenience & comfort, as these patients will not have to travel out of the area to see these specialists."
Memorial has also reestablished the surgery and gynecology clinics at Moss Memorial, while adding three new doctors and a nurse practitioner to the gynecology clinic.
Other services that have been established for Moss Memorial patients include: electromyography (EMG), electroencephalogram (EEG) tests, positron emission tomography (PET) scans, sleep studies, nuclear stress tests, multi gated acquisition (MUGA) scans, hepatobiliary (HIDA) scans, bone scans, outpatient therapy rehabilitation and liver and kidney biopsies.
"We continue to work to reduce the wait time for patients to see a provider so they can get the services they need the same day," Brown says. "When you are sick, nobody wants to wait or travel a great distant to receive care. That is why we are expanding services as quickly as possible. We want to bring the best care available, home to our patients."
This latest addition of services will not be the last. An orthopaedic clinic and pulmonology clinic are set to open later this month. Work on providing hepatology and outpatient dialysis services is currently underway.
