New Orleans - Today, New Orleans CityBusiness honored recipients of its annual Health Care Heroes program. Dr. Rebekah Gee, Department of Health and Hospitals Medicaid Medical Director, was one of the physicians receiving the award for her work as Assistant Professor of Public Health and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the LSU Schools of Public Health and Medicine.
"I am grateful to accept the Health Care Heroes award, not only for myself, but on behalf of my colleagues in DHH Medicaid," said Dr. Rebekah Gee. "This award recognizes the importance of working tirelessly to increase and improve access to health care services, which is a core component of DHH's mission. I look forward to continuing my work at both DHH and LSU."
"Dr. Gee is very deserving of the Health Care Heroes award." said DHH Secretary Kathy H. Kliebert. "Dr. Gee continually gives her time, expertise and passion for improving health outcomes to the residents of Louisiana. I am thrilled that she is being recognized among other health care visionaries in our state."
Launched in 2007, Health Care Heroes honors health care professionals in the New Orleans area in six categories: animal care, first responder, nurse, physician, professional and volunteer. Honorees are selected based on industry achievement and community impact.
The winners will be highlighted in a special publication that will be part of the May 16, 2014 issue of New Orleans CityBusiness
