Dr. Rebekah Gee, secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, is traveling to Washington, D.C. today, where she will meet with several officials with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
As Louisiana prepares to expand Medicaid to cover working adults earning up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level, Dr. Gee will discuss eligibility and enrollment policy provisions of the Affordable Care Act.
Dr. Gee will meet with Andy Slavitt, acting administrator for CMS, and Vikki Wachino, director for the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services. This is an informational-only meeting, and Dr. Gee will return to Louisiana Tuesday.
