The statewide tour to promote Medicaid expansion, known as Healthy Louisiana, continues this week at an event in Houma. Healthy Louisiana will bring health insurance coverage to an estimated 375,000 working Louisianans. The event will be May 18 at 2 p.m. at the Teche Action Clinic at 1014 West Tunnel Blvd.
During the event, local residents will share testimonials about their struggles to find affordable health care, and local leaders will speak about how Healthy Louisiana will benefit their communities on a larger scale. LDH will also share the locations of local signup centers so that individuals will be able to apply for Medicaid coverage beginning June 1. Louisiana residents will also be able to apply at healthy.la.gov.
Additional kickoff events are planned for New Orleans, Alexandria, Monroe and Louisiana's Delta region later this month, and several additional events designed to help inform individuals on how to sign up are scheduled throughout the state.
