The Louisiana Department of Health will close state molluscan shellfish growing waters, Areas 1-28, effective at sunset today, October 28, 2020. This is a precautionary closure due to the adverse weather conditions from Hurricane Zeta.
The affected waters include the entire coastline from Orleans and St. Bernard parishes to Vermillion and Iberia parishes. These waters will remain closed to the harvest of all molluscan shellfish until it is determined the environmental conditions are within the requirements specified by the National Shellfish Sanitation Program.
