Baton Rouge --- Workers from the Department of Health Medicaid program have returned to some areas most severely affected by Hurricane Katrina to help residents apply for temporary no-cost health coverage for their families.

Louisiana Medicaid has developed the Disaster Relief Medicaid Program, which provides temporary coverage to those people who were affected by the storm and qualify for Medicaid. This program requires less documentation and has a simplified application form to assist those who lost vital records in the storm.
