The Louisiana Domestic Abuse Fatality Review (LA-DAFR) Panel was established in 2021 via Louisiana R.S. 40:2024.1-2024.6. The Domestic Abuse Fatality Review is coordinated through the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health, Bureau of Family Health. Through a comprehensive and multidisciplinary review of domestic abuse fatality cases at the state and local levels, the Louisiana Domestic Abuse Fatality Review works to identify and characterize the scope and nature of domestic abuse fatalities in order to take action to prevent future fatalities.

The Louisiana Rare Disease Advisory Council provides resources to public and private agencies in the state that serve individuals diagnosed with rare diseases. The Council is tasked with compiling an annual report that summarizes the findings, activities, and progress for State Fiscal Year 2024 (SFY 2024) of the Council and recommendations for addressing the needs of Louisianans living with a rare disease. The Council operates under the Bureau of Family Health, which provides staff support and policy expertise to assist the Council in fulfilling its mission to provide advice on research, diagnosis, treatment, and education related to rare diseases. The Council's additional duties, outlined in R.S. 40:1122.1 (see Appendix D), include providing expert and clinical advice to the Drug Utilization Review Board in its review of treatments for rare diseases and providing input and feedback to the Louisiana Department of Health and other agencies on matters affecting people with rare diseases.

In accordance with Louisiana Revised Statute 40:1046 (R.S. 40:1046) and Act 150 of the 2024 Legislative Session (Act 150), the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health, Bureau of Sanitarian Services, Cannabis Program is pleased to submit this report detailing the operations and outcomes of the state’s medical marijuana program. The report covers the period of January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024. It provides comprehensive data collected from the two state-approved licensees authorized to produce therapeutic marijuana in Louisiana: Advanced Biomedics LLC (d/b/a Ilera Holistic Healthcare) and Good Day Farms.

As required by Act 534 of the 2014 Regular Session, the state superintendent of education, secretary of the Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS), and the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) shall review and evaluate the effectiveness of current state programs, including but not limited to sex education provided by public schools, aimed at reducing the rate of teen pregnancy and preventing the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases among youth of Louisiana.

Monitoring the health status of a population is an essential step in evaluating the effectiveness of various health programs and in developing programmatic policy for the future. Monitoring the status of a population relative to certain health indicators over a number of years is an especially effective tool for health planning. Act 985 of the 1995 Louisiana Regular Legislative Session, enacting R.S. 40:1300.71, requires that the Louisiana Department of Health annually prepare a report card relative to health and health-related issues.
