Data Action Team (DAT)
The Bureau of Family Health’s (BFH) Data Action Team (DAT) collects, links, analyzes, and interprets data to support the monitoring of the health and well-being of women, children, youth, and families. The team provides information to guide program plans; inform public health and public policy initiatives; evaluate the effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of health services; and support public health research.
The team is dedicated to providing quality data analysis and interpretation for health professionals, policymakers, researchers, and the public.

Louisiana Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) | Surveys Louisiana women on their behaviors and experiences before, during, and after pregnancy, and analyzes and reports annual data. |
Louisiana Birth Defects Monitoring Network (LBDMN) | Collects and analyzes information on birth defects in children 0 to 3 years of age. |
Infant and Child Death Review | Convenes teams of multi-disciplinary community members to review the unexpected deaths of children under age 15 to identify issues and gaps, and improve services for women, infants, and families to prevent future deaths. |
Pregnancy Associated Mortality Review (PAMR) | Convenes teams of healthcare and social services professionals to Identify and review deaths of pregnant and postpartum women to identify risk factors for maternal death and prevention opportunities. |
Home Visiting Program Analytics | |
Unintentional and IntentionalInjury and Fatality Surveillance | Identifies leading causes of injury hospitalizations, emergency room visits, and deaths for all ages and their associated risk factors to inform prevention efforts and policy. |
Data Quality/Linkage | Links and shares data with Vital Records, Medicaid, WIC, Newborn Screening, Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems, Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs, Birth Defects, STD/HIV, and other public health programs and hospitals. |
Data Analysis/Quality Improvement | Analyzes and interprets data to monitor health and assist with program planning, evaluation, and policy development. |
