Think of Franklin., Inc. operates a licensed Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Prevention Program at 6561 Main Street, Winnsboro, LA. The program serves rural Franklin Parish area which has a population of Approximately 22,500 people. The operating hours are from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to Noon on Saturdays, open on all school breaks (may be closed on state holidays). During the summer months the program is opened from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The program also provides field trips which is not included in the hours of operation.
THINK of Franklin, Inc. is dedicated to providing opportunities for youth to build character and increase self-esteem by providing materials, information, and activities that focus on alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse prevention. Alternative activities are emphasized in order to prepare youths to constructively deal with the problems they face in today's society.
THINK of Franklin, Inc. recognizes the significance of ATOD prevention and is committed to accomplishing its goals and objectives through varied strategies. They include information dissemination, education, and alternative enrichment activities. Among the components for ATOD education are group presentations; mass media which includes television, radio, and newspaper; written materials distributed throughout the parish; parenting courses; and ATOD education with peer leadership. Other strategies involve drug free events, tutorial sessions, family oriented recreation, community service through the Community Outreach Program for Enhancement, and field trips that boost self-esteem and aspirations.
