The Juvenile Competency Restoration program is designed to help restore accused juvenile offenders to competency to stand trial. Through collaboration between the LDH Office of Behavioral Health and the Bureau of Legal Services, juveniles are educated on court proceedings to enhance their understanding and comprehension of the juvenile justice processes. The program is also geared toward giving accused juvenile offenders the tools to help them in their defense. The program ensures that each individual is referred to all necessary services that may impact his or her mental capacity.
