The Jindal administration has published its latest version of a new health-care delivery system for the poor...
"There may still be some new ideas the coalition will bring forward, but most groups we have spoken with see no real reason to oppose it,"  state Department of Health and Hospitals Secretary Bruce Greenstein said Monday.

On Monday, DHH officials launched three days of telephone conferences so health-care providers, insurance interests and others could ask questions about the proposal.

"We are right on time, exactly where we want to be," Greenstein said.

A public hearing is scheduled for March 30.

Under the plan, private insurance companies or other entities would be paid to manage the health care of two-thirds of the state's 1.2 million Medicaid recipients. Most of those who would be covered are children.

Under current plans, DHH would seek requests for proposals from insurance companies and other entities wishing to participate April 11 with contract awards by Aug. 1.

Two coordinated care network options have been offered: one a pre-paid, insurance model in which taxpayers pay the premium and the other built around "shared savings" based on success in improving health care and reducing costs.
