"As physicians, we dedicate our lives to serving Louisiana residents in need. Today's action by the members of the House of Representatives is deeply concerning. An additional cut in Medicaid rates to physicians will force physicians out of the program and significantly hinder access for our patients. The impact will extend beyond physicians and Medicaid enrollees; with decreased access to physicians' offices, there will be an increase in costly unnecessary hospitalizations that will ultimately fall back on taxpayers. We have great respect for our legislators and the responsibility they have to our residents, therefore we ask that they reverse these cuts to health care and restore the Governor's original proposal," said Dr. Donnie Batie, president of the Louisiana Association of Independent Physicians.
