September 01, 2005 Hurricane Katrina #15 --- Hotline Established for Louisiana WIC Recipients

-

Baton Rouge – Following Hurricane Katrina, many participants in the Louisiana Women, Infants and Children Program [WIC] are living away from home and need to know how to obtain their WIC foods in other locations.

The Department of Health has established a hotline number for WIC recipients to call and find out how to obtain WIC items at their current locations. Recipients can call 1-800-251-BABY for this information.

WIC is a state-run nutrition program for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children under 5 years old that provides nutritious foods, nutrition information and referrals to other health and social services.
