Lafayette --- The Department of Health – Bureau of Primary Care and Rural Health will host a press conference Thursday to announce the success of the Med Job Louisiana provider recruitment program. The Louisiana Rural Health Access Program and the Louisiana Area Health Education Centers are partners in this press conference.
Med Job Louisiana is a program that offers recruitment services to entice primary care providers, nurses and other medical professionals to work in health professional shortage areas within the state. The press conference will take place Thursday, July 15, at 11 a.m. in the Voorhies Auditorium at University Medical Center in Lafayette. LDH Secretary Fred Cerise, M.D., M.P.H., is scheduled to speak at the event, along with representatives from Bunkie Hospital, where two clinicians were placed through the program. Representatives from other Med Job Louisiana partner organizations and provider placement sites have been invited to attend, along with members of the Legislature who supported the program.
