Anyone seeking a free ultrasound should verify with the facility whether they still perform free ultrasounds. If a patient voluntarily chooses to obtain a free ultrasound service, that ultrasound will likely be in addition to the ultrasound which is required by law for the purposes of determining viability and preserving the woman’s health, unless the free ultrasound is performed by the physician performing the abortion, the referring physician, or a qualified person working in conjunction with either physician.
