Department of Health and Hospitals Secretary Dr. Fred Cerise and representatives from the Louisiana Restaurant Association will host a press conference Monday, April 4 to officially launch a new Web site that will let patrons know the health inspection status of Louisiana restaurants.

Dr. Cerise will unveil the new site at Ralph Brennan’s Bacco Restaurant, 310 Chartres St., New Orleans, at 10 a.m. Members of the media are invited to attend and learn about the new site and how to search for information.

When logging onto the page, found on the LDH Office of Public Health Web site, anyone interested can search for restaurants by establishment name, address, parish or city. A chart will appear listing the restaurant, its address, previous inspection results and then its current inspection status. The current status will be depicted with pelican icons used to assign ratings to a restaurant. The ratings range from five pelicans (Superior) to one pelican (Regulatory Action).
