Lafayette – The Department of Health has partnered with various medical organizations to staff a primary health care clinic in Lafayette to treat patients from Hurricanes Rita and Katrina. The clinic is located at the Lafayette Parish Health Unit, 220 West Willow Street, Building A, Lafayette; 337-262-5616.
Volunteer physicians and nurses from the Mayo Clinic, University of Minnesota and the Nursing College of St. Catherine’s are staffing this clinic. All of these organizations, as well as the American Refugee Committee International and the Lafayette Medical Society, are participants in the clinic.
Evacuees from Hurricanes Rita or Katrina are eligible to receive primary health care services at this clinic. Services provided include: general primary care for all ages, immunizations and prescription refills for
non-narcotic medications.
