Baton Rouge – Due to an overwhelming need for medical personnel, Med Job Louisiana has expanded to provide free professional recruitment services to nurses, in addition to primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, psychiatrists and dentists displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

“It is imperative that we retain our health care workers by providing assistance to them in their search for employment – to keep them at home to care for their fellow citizens in this time of crisis,” said Department of Health Secretary, Dr. Fred Cerise.

Many Louisiana clinics, health centers and practices are experiencing increased patient volumes due to the relocation of Hurricane Katrina evacuees.  According to Med Job Louisiana recruiter, Lee Ann Albert, the program is working to assess the short-term and long-term employment needs of these health care organizations.

Med Job Louisiana has established a hotline for medical personnel seeking employment.  Primary care providers can call 1-866-273-4999 or log on to www.medjoblouisiana.com to fill out an interview form.  Health care organizations with staffing needs can call the hotline to provide information about available practice opportunities.

Upon receiving information, Med Job recruiters will contact practitioners and health care organizations to begin the placement process.
