Baton Rouge – The State of Louisiana has established the national Find Family Call Center at 1-866-326-9393. This toll-free number has been established as an information and support resource for individuals and families who believe they have a family member who may have perished due to the hurricane.

The national Find Family Call Center is designed as a point of entry to help families begin the process of identifying their deceased loved ones.

Also, the firm of Kenyon Worldwide Disaster Management has been hired by FEMA to coordinate the recovery of the deceased.

Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco thanks FEMA for making this decision to hire Kenyon in support of recovery operations currently on-going in the following parishes: Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard and Plaquemines. Kenyon supports each parish coroner in their statutory duty to recover and identify and return the deceased to their families in a dignified manner.

Today it has been confirmed that there are 118 deceased.  Sixty-seven are in the morgue at St. Gabriel and the rest were released to local coroners.
