The purpose of this tool kit is to help facilitate implementation of school- based dental sealant programs through Louisiana’s Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). The tool kit addresses application for a license to operate portable and mobile dental equipment, infection control recommendations and standards, and information required in the consent form for student participation in the program, among other topics. Although specifically geared toward the FQHC; other stakeholders may find information in this tool kit useful.

Louisiana Seals Smiles is an oral health prevention program supported by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Oral Health Program. It is a school-based or school-linked dental sealant project specifically geared toward first, second, and sixth grade children in Louisiana.

Presented in this document is the Louisiana Statewide Oral Health Coalition’s state plan for improving oral health for Louisiana. The plan includes the goals that the Coalition hopes to complete by 2013, as well as the objectives and strategies that will lead to achieving these goals. The Coalition has identified goals for five focus areas: access, education, prevention, surveillance and evaluation and workforce.

The purpose of this Fluoridation Guidance Manual is to assist public water systems as well as public water system operators in the adjustment and maintenance of fluoride levels to the optimal level within the specified range.

Community water fluoridation is a cost effective, safe prevention method to fight tooth decay for all members of a community regardless of age, socio-economic status, or ability to access dental services.

Louisiana Smiles for life is an oral health promotion program supported by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Oral Health Program. It is an education-based project specifically geared toward functionally independent senior citizens in Louisiana.
