The Louisiana Department of Health, the East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor's Office and other community partners are hosting a series of monkeypox and COVID-19 vaccination events in Baton Rouge, starting Saturday, August 27.

Among the cases included in today's demographic analysis, approximately 95% have occurred in males.

Unlike the mRNA vaccines developed by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, the Novavax vaccine is a protein-based shot.

The fun-filled event will take place from 4-8 p.m. at the Where Y'Art Works gallery located at 1901 Royal St. in New Orleans.

All Louisiana children ages 6 months and up are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, following the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) accepting the recommendation of its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorization of the three-dose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and the two-dose Moderna vaccine.
