ACT 534 requested The Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), and the Department of Education (DOE) to report on its review and evaluation of programs available to educate the youth of Louisiana about the importance of preventing teen pregnancy and the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Monitoring the status of a population relative to certain health indicators over a number of years is an especially effective tool for health planning. Act 985 of the 1995 Louisiana Regular Legislative Session, enacting R.S. 40:1300.71, requires that the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals annually prepare a report card relative to health and health-related issues.
