The Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health, Bureau of Family Health is responsible for coordinating state and local child death review panels that review unexpected, injury-related child deaths, identify risk factors, and provide recommendations for preventive action. The Louisiana Child Death Review Panel is authorized and mandated through the Louisiana Legislature in Louisiana Revised Statute 40:2019 to establish a child death investigation protocol, collect data, and report and share results and recommendations. The Child Death Review report examines infant and child injury-related mortality from 2020 to 2022, identifies trends, and provides recommendations to help reduce the occurrence of child mortality in the future.

The Louisiana Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) is a population-based survey of women who deliver a live-born infant within a given calendar year. The 2022 Louisiana PRAMS Data Report, a compilation of Louisiana PRAMS results for selected indicators, highlights data for births occurring in 2022. In 2022, there were 55,848 live births that satisfied the Louisiana PRAMS inclusion criteria, of which 1,234 were sampled. Of this sample, there were 601 respondents, resulting in a 49.2 percent overall weighted response rate. Louisiana PRAMS data can be used by program planners, health care providers, policy makers, and public health leaders to design, implement, and evaluate programs and services for women and infants in Louisiana.

The Louisiana Domestic Abuse Fatality Review (LA-DAFR) Panel was established in 2021 via Louisiana R.S. 40:2024.1-2024.6. The Domestic Abuse Fatality Review is coordinated through the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health, Bureau of Family Health. Through a comprehensive and multidisciplinary review of domestic abuse fatality cases at the state and local levels, the Louisiana Domestic Abuse Fatality Review works to identify and characterize the scope and nature of domestic abuse fatalities in order to take action to prevent future fatalities.

The Louisiana Rare Disease Advisory Council provides resources to public and private agencies in the state that serve individuals diagnosed with rare diseases. The Council is tasked with compiling an annual report that summarizes the findings, activities, and progress for State Fiscal Year 2024 (SFY 2024) of the Council and recommendations for addressing the needs of Louisianans living with a rare disease. The Council operates under the Bureau of Family Health, which provides staff support and policy expertise to assist the Council in fulfilling its mission to provide advice on research, diagnosis, treatment, and education related to rare diseases. The Council's additional duties, outlined in R.S. 40:1122.1 (see Appendix D), include providing expert and clinical advice to the Drug Utilization Review Board in its review of treatments for rare diseases and providing input and feedback to the Louisiana Department of Health and other agencies on matters affecting people with rare diseases.

The 2024 Louisiana Domestic Abuse Fatality Review report reflects intimate partner violence mortality data from 2020-2022. The data includes the number of intimate partner violence cases per year, demographic information, and a summary of these fatal incidents.
