Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule
On Decemeber 27, 2021, the fifth Unreguialted Contaminant Monitoring Rule was published. UCMR requires the sample collection of 30 chemicals (29 per - and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and 1 metal). See the UCMR5 Program Overview Fact Sheet for the complete list of contaminants and monitoring scope. Sampling will take place between January 2023 and December 2025.
EPA will contact water systems with information about the requirements of UCMR5 monitoring. EPA contracted with Great Lakes Environmental Center, Inc. (GLEC) to perform this outreach as noted in this EPA - LDH Outreach Letter. If you have questions, you will find specific information in this letter for appropriate contacts.
