Laboratory Certification

The Louisiana Department of Health (LADHH) Laboratory Certification Program accredits laboratories analyzing drinking water under the EPA Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). In accordance with SDWA and state regulations, the LADHH Laboratory Certification Program issues drinking water certification to laboratories performing microbiological and chemical testing of drinking water in the State of Louisiana.  The LADHH Laboratory Certification Program is also a TNI NELAP-Recognized Accreditation Body and certifies laboratories for chemical testing of drinking water in accordance with the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP), which is accepted by EPA in lieu of drinking water certification.

Laboratory Services Homepage

The goal of the OPH Laboratory is to protect the health and safety of the citizens and visitors to the State of Louisiana by providing accurate and timely laboratory data to state officials, public health programs and citizens of the state. Information produced by the OPH Laboratory is a key component in day to day decision making as well as being critical to crisis management following natural disasters, disease outbreaks, chemical spills, and threat events. Public health programs as well as state and federal law enforcement agencies use OPH Laboratory data.
