Baton Rouge – The Louisiana Department of Health announces that Med Job Louisiana, the state’s free physician recruitment program, has expanded services to act as the primary source for health care providers affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Med Job Louisiana is prepared to provide professional recruitment services to physicians, psychiatrists, dentists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants displaced by hurricane evacuations. Using Practice Sights software, Med Job Louisiana recruiters can match practitioners to short-term and long-term practice opportunities.
Interested practitioners should visit www.medjoblouisiana.com to complete an interview form. Upon receiving information via the Web site, Med Job recruiters will contact interested practitioners to begin the placement process. Practitioners with no Internet access can call 1-866-273-4999.
“We understand that many health care providers are seeing increased patient loads as a result of evacuees in need of health care services relocating to areas around the state,” said Med Job Recruiter, Lee Ann Albert.
Health care organizations in need of primary care practitioners should provide information about available practice opportunities by contacting Med Job recruiters at 1-866-273-4999.
“During this crisis, Med Job Louisiana’s mission remains the same – to match health care practitioners with appropriate practice sites in Louisiana to address the primary and preventative health care needs of residents in medically underserved areas,” said Kristy Nichols, Director of the Department of Health and Hospitals’ Bureau of Primary Care and Rural Health. “As these needs increase, so will our efforts,” she said.
Med Job Louisiana is a partnership between the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, the Louisiana Area Health Education Center and the Louisiana Rural Health Access Program. Funding for the program is provided by the Louisiana Department of Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
